Topic 2: Clinical Conversations that Include MAiD

An online, self-study module on developing an approach to navigating goals of care discussions with particular emphasis on how to include MAiD as an end-of-life option.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Discuss if/how MAiD might fit within a patient’s goals of care.
  2. Recognize when to include MAiD in discussion with patients.
  3. Increase confidence and competence in discussions about MAiD.
  4. Offer appropriate resources to patients considering MAiD and their families.
  5. Explore patients’ suffering.
  6. Respond to MAiD inquiries of patients and their families. 
  7. Discuss the importance of exploring the patient’s cultural and/or spiritual beliefs.
