$60.00The Moral Weight of MAiD Practice:
Exploring Individual and Systemic Roots of Distress
Working in Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) can be deeply meaningful, but it can also bring ethical uncertainty, emotional strain, and experiences of moral distress. Clinicians and other professionals involved in MAiD may encounter situations where competing values, systemic barriers, resource limitations, or complex patient circumstances challenge their sense of what is ethically right or possible.
In this session of CAMAP’s Professional Insights Series, ethicists Marika Warren and Angel Petropanagos will explore the moral weight of MAiD practice and the factors that contribute to distress for those working in this evolving area of care. Participants will examine both individual and systemic sources of moral distress and consider practical approaches to protecting moral integrity and sustaining meaningful practice over time.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Name it: Identify and articulate experiences of moral distress in MAiD practice.
- Trace it: Connect individual experiences of distress to systemic pressures and structural conditions.
- Address it: Explore strategies for protecting moral integrity and sustaining meaningful practice over time.
This session is open to clinicians, care coordinators, and other professionals directly involved in MAiD. Attendance is complimentary for CAMAP members and available to non-members for $60.
Members must be logged in for the balance owing to revert to $0 prior to registering.
